Box Breathing
Box breathing is a simple technique that can help you gather your thoughts, improve concentration, and regain a sense of calm when studying or feeling stressed.
Imagine your breath following the four sides of a square:
- Breathe in slowly through your nose for 3 seconds.
- Hold your breath for 3 seconds.
- Breathe out slowly for 3 seconds.
- Hold your breath for 3 seconds before taking your next breath in.
Repeat the exercise for a few rounds at a comfortable pace. Try to keep your attention on your breathing and the counting. If your mind wanders, that's completely normal. Simply notice where your attention has gone and gently bring your focus back to the exercise.
As you become more familiar with the technique, you can gradually increase the duration of each step, for example to 5 or 7 seconds. Always adjust the pace to what feels comfortable and manageable for you.
