Why is balance in life so important?
In everyday student life, it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a healthy balance between the various deadlines and demands you have to manage, and all the other needs in life.
We struggle on, thinking that we can take it easy later, when we’ve done everything we have to do. For example, “I’m just going to get through the rest of the term, then I can start taking care of myself.” The risk of this behaviour is that we never feel completely “finished,” but tend to replace one demand with another. We end up in a vicious circle that leads to an imbalance between demands and recovery, and we may experience different stress symptoms.
