Health insurance

All students in Sweden - regardless of nationality - are insured during school hours through the Swedish State’s Insurance for students at higher education institutions, administered by Kammarkollegiet (The Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency). This insurance does not apply during non-study periods.

Insurance for exchange students – Student IN 

Student IN insurance is free of charge and provides 24-hour coverage in Sweden for exchange students, guest researchers and interns.

To be eligible, your stay in Sweden must be based on an agreement between your home university and a Swedish higher education institution.

Coverage includes:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Emergency dental care

Insurance for fee-paying students – FASplus 

FASplus applies to students who pay tuition fees, or receive a scholarship but still pay a tuition fee. This insurance is free of charge and provides 24-hour coverage in Sweden for the entire duration of your studies.

Coverage includes:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Emergency dental care
